Clashmore Kinsalebeg captured the Premier Intermediate Hurling title, beating Bricky Rangers 2-16 to 0-20 to secure senior status for the first time in the club’s 141-year history. Speaking on Sport Láirge, stalwart Brian O’Halloran admitted the achievement was ‘hard to believe,’ with disbelief slowly turning into joy as the reality sank in.

Key moments included three unanswered points to drag Clashmore back to parity in the second half and a decisive goal five minutes from time. Earlier, a goal before the break ensured they went in level instead of three down. Injured impact man Luke Coughlan, heavily strapped after a meniscus issue in the semi-final, was sprung for a short spell and still produced a pivotal contribution.

O’Halloran, 35, reflected on thinking he was ‘fit for the scrap heap’ rather than senior hurling, and paid tribute to generations who kept hurling alive in what was traditionally a football parish.

On the same bill, Fourmilewater reached their first ever senior county final in their centenary year, overcoming Roanmore 2-16 to 0-17. A late ground-strike goal from Liam O’Brien and a crucial point from Chris Ryan sealed the win after a ferocious, physical battle. Goalkeeper Stephen Ryan produced a vital save with five minutes left, preserving the lead and setting up a historic county final showdown with Ballygunner next Sunday at Fraher Field.
