Weather for Saturday, January 25th
Cold but largely dry this morning with isolated wintry showers, some frost and icy patches. Early sunny spells will give way as a band of showery rain will start to move in from the west later this morning, clearing eastwards in the afternoon followed by sunny spells and scattered showers. Falls of sleet are likely along with some hail and isolated thunderstorms. Light southerly winds will increase moderate to fresh and gusty for a time. Highest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees.
Dry for much of tonight with clear spells at first before cloud builds from the southwest with rain following into southwestern fringes by morning. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +1 degrees in mostly light to moderate southerly winds, backing southeasterly and freshening towards morning.
Wet and windy tomorrow morning with strong to near gale force southeasterly winds developing, with gale force winds along exposed coasts. Rain will become widespread, heavy in places with some localised flooding possible. The rain will clear to sunny spells and scattered showers in the afternoon with a chance of thunderstorms. The winds will veer southerly and will ease moderate to fresh as the rain clears. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees.
