The sunshine is set to stay for the country for the rest of the week, although Met Éireann warns parts of the country will see the odd shower.

After months of wind, rain, and the hopelessness we felt at the prospect of never seeing the sun again, the aforementioned sun finally emerged last week — and brought high temperatures the likes of which we thought we’d never see again (the high teens).

While all good things must come to an end, we have been waiting with bated breath for the regularly scheduled programming of wind and rain — but Met Éireann blessed us with good news, saying that, save for a few showers, we’ll be enjoying sunshine and warmth.

Looking at the forecast for Saturday, Met Éireann has said that while there will be some cloud and scattered showers in Connacht, Leinster and Ulster in the morning, these will gradually clear to the northeast with dry weather and sunshine. Highest temperatures from 15C to 21C, warmest in the east.

Saturday night will see a mixture of cloud and clear spells, with isolated showers possible. It will be fairly cool, too, with lowest temperatures of 4C to 9C.

There is a chance of a few showers on Sunday, but overall it’s expected to be a bright and dry day, with highest temperatures between 14C and 18C, in light west to northwest variable winds.

Current indications suggest that Wednesday will see the high pressure system remain in charge, so conditions will remain largely fine and dry with highs of 13C to 17C.

Looking to the rest of the week, Met Éireann said that conditions will be generally quite settled, with sunny spells and milder temperatures.
