WLR is delighted to announce Shaws as the new sponsor of The Big Breakfast Blaa with Ollie & Dymphna, bringing together two brands with deep roots in Waterford City and County.
The new partnership comes at an exciting time for the Big Breakfast Blaa, which has recorded its strongest JNLR audience figures in years, as WLR continues to go from strength to strength as Waterford’s leading local radio station.
Broadcast every weekday morning from 6 am to 10 am, Ollie and Dymphna have become a familiar part of the morning routine for thousands of listeners across Waterford, mixing local news and conversation with entertainment, competitions, great music and plenty of Waterford craic.
Shaws has its own long history in the county, having been part of Waterford since 1941 and today operating stores in both Waterford City and Dungarvan.

Conrad Digan, CEO at Shaws, said:
“We’re delighted to become the new sponsor of the Big Breakfast Blaa and to further strengthen our relationship with WLR. Shaws has been part of Waterford since 1941 and, with stores in Waterford City and Dungarvan, we’re incredibly proud of our long-standing connection with the county.
Ollie, Dymphna and the Big Breakfast Blaa are such a familiar part of mornings in Waterford, so it feels like a really natural partnership for Shaws.
With international brands including Mango, Topshop and BPerfect, alongside exclusive Spanish fashion brands such as Punt Roma and Sfera, there’s plenty at Shaws that might surprise you, and what better way to share that message than through our partnership with the Big Breakfast Blaa.
We’re really looking forward to working with Ollie, Dymphna and the wider WLR team.”
Stephen McGrath, Store Manager of Waterford, said:
“WLR is a firm favourite with the team here in Shaws Waterford, so there was plenty of excitement when we heard we’d be sponsoring the Big Breakfast Blaa. We’re delighted to be part of the show and to have a bit of Shaws joining Waterford listeners every morning.”
Niamh Cunningham, Store Manager of Shaws Dungarvan, said:
“The Big Breakfast Blaa has such a great energy about it. There’s always plenty of craic with Ollie and Dymphna, and that really suits us at Shaws. We’re looking forward to getting involved, having a bit of fun with the show and hopefully surprising a few listeners along the way.”

Michelle Condon, Business Development at WLR, said the partnership was a natural fit for both brands:
“This is a great partnership for WLR, and we’re really looking forward to working with Conrad, Stephen, Niamh and all the staff at Shaws in Waterford and Dungarvan.
Shaws is a name that generations of Waterford families know and trust, and there’s a lovely fit between that heritage and the Big Breakfast Blaa, which is all about starting the day with Waterford.
The show has just delivered its best JNLR performance in years, which is a fantastic reflection of what Ollie and Dymphna have built together. WLR as a whole is going from strength to strength, and partnerships like this allow us to work with great local businesses while also keeping our listeners informed about what’s happening in stores, new brands, offers and hopefully a few surprises along the way.
We’re delighted to welcome Shaws to breakfast on WLR, and we’re looking forward to having plenty of fun with the partnership.”
Shaws is an Irish department store with 17 locations offering a wide range in Fashion, Beauty and Home, with stores locally in Waterford and Dungarvan. The Big Breakfast Blaa with Ollie & Dymphna airs Monday to Friday from 6 am to 10 am on WLR.
