Taking to Instagram on Wednesday evening, Muireann revealed she had given her mam a quick ring, knowing it would be a short conversation.

‘I rang my mother on a) one of her bridge nights, and b) during one of her quiz shows, so I knew it was going to be a short conversation,’ Muireann shared online.

‘She picks up the phone, “I don’t have time. I don’t have time. I don’t have time.” I was like: “Yeah, yeah, I just wanted to see having a nice day? All okay?”‘ Muireann details.

‘She’s like: “Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Ahm, I hate your hair like that — put it to the side.”‘

Muireann smirks as she notes there is ‘always time for a drive by.’

The presenter said: ‘Doesn’t have time to talk to me but always time for a drive by.’

Sharing the clip online, Muireann added: ‘Mother’s of daughters should be the highest paid snipers. They never miss. Hoooow, how do they do it?’

Fellow social media users took to the comments sharing grounding comments they’ve received from their own mothers and grandmothers.

One wrote: ‘Same as my mum. Walked into the house some years ago. Her way of telling me I’m carrying a few pounds, “Ash, I wouldn’t wear that blouse for awhile.”‘

Another noted: ‘That’s what mammy’s are for.’

A third shared: ‘That is mothers looking out for you. I do try not to with any of my daughters but sometimes you just have to.’

A fourth joked: ‘Shoot from hip and then hang up. Finest mam in the west.’
