As one of Ireland’s most recognised journalists in Ireland, delivering the news daily, Zara King is used to people stopping her for a chat.

But the Virgin Media Southern News Correspondent has revealed what her husband, Cian, thinks of her high-profile job.

In July, Zara tied the knot to Cian in a glamorous West Cork wedding in Courtmacsherry. The couple got engaged in Galway a year prior to their nuptials while on a romantic getaway to Screebe House.

Zara is based in West Cork and opened up about how ‘lovely’ it is when the public approach her after they recognise her from Virgin Media news.

Zara told EVOKE: ‘They’re just really nice, to be honest. I’m very lucky. We live in West Cork now.

‘You’re meeting people looking for a chat, and like, people feel like they know you, and I love that.

‘I think that it’s good that we have that, like, two-way communication with our audience, because at the end of the day, we work for them, so you know, I love how people feel like they come up and say hello.’

And she said her husband – who works in renewable energy – doesn’t seem to mind when his talented wife is stopped on the street.

‘I think my husband doesn’t mind it either, I think he’s kind of used to it now. He works in renewable energy, he’s very private.’

Opening up about married life she added: ‘Married life is good, I know it’s easy to say, but married life is very good.’

But Zara said it was a ‘big transition’ when they moved out of Dublin to West Cork.

‘It was a big transition, I think, like moving from Dublin after being here for like nearly 12 or13 years, we’re in the countryside now, but we love it, we’re living two minutes on the beach, and we’re doing the whole swimming in the evening kind of thing, and making the most of having that on our doorstep.’
