Donncha O’Callaghan has revealed that his newest children’s book is on the way.
The former Munster lock began his career as a children’s author back in 2024 with Disaster Dad: Chicken Chaos, with the book getting a sequel — Disaster Dad: Fun Day Chaos — last year.
While the latter won a Kids Book of the Year award at Eason’s end of year awards, Donncha has since announced that Disaster Dad will return — and it’s sooner than we think.

‘If you enjoyed my first two books, I’ve got some exciting news for you,’ Donncha posted on his Instagram story. ‘This September, you will be able to enjoy “Disaster Dad: Animal Antics.”‘
Donncha confirmed that the latest book in the series will be released on September 24, with pre-orders open now.
Despite the new book being released soon, Donncha thanked people for their support with his first two books, saying: ‘last year, Fun Day Fiasco was a bestseller. Thank you so much, I really appreciate all the support.’

Donncha’s friends congratulated him on his new book, with his former 2FM colleague Doireann Garrihy commenting: ‘Well wow wee would you look at that for a quote. The greatest page turner I’ve ever read. Go on Donners.’
‘Brilliant stuff Donners,’ Anna Geary added, while another commented: ‘Oh fantastic! My son loves your books. Has the best time reading them with his dad. This news will make his day.’
Donncha announced his departure from 2FM back in 2024, but has still kept up a bantering friendship with his former 2FM Breakfast co-hosts Carl Mullan and Doireann Garrihy — with Carl getting a dig in at Donners’ expense last month during Doireann’s The Laughs of Your Life show in Limerick.
The duo couldn’t miss an opportunity for a bit of craic with their former co-host, with Carl sending Donncha a video live from the stage at the Olympia.
‘Alright, ya bleedin’ pain in the hole!’ Carl said while throwing his fingers at his former radio colleague.‘They got the one they wanted!’ Carl said, turning the camera to the audience who took their queue to cheer.
Doireann then starts a chant of ‘We don’t need Donners!’
