Animal lovers across the country, rejoice, an RTÉ favourite is set to return to our screens.
Known as a beloved fly-on-the-wall series that follows the Dublin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA) and the ISPCA, The Shelter: Animal SOS has proved a hit over the years.
Now, with the DSPCA and ISPCA combining to form the NSPCA, the show is set to return to RTÉ later this month.

Filmed over a year, The Shelter: Animal SOS follows the vets and the charity as they team up to tend to animals of all shapes, sizes and conditions as they come through the charity’s headquarters.
The show, which is in its sixth season, will take viewers on a journey with some of the country’s most in need animals, following them from rescue through to rehabilitation and rehoming.
As well as the animals they care for, the series also showcases the incredible efforts made by the dedicated staff and volunteers at the NSPCA.

‘The National Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is incredibly proud to open its doors once again for RTÉ’s The Shelter: Animal SOS,’ NSPCA CEO Pat Watt said in a statement.
‘The series allows people to see the vital work happening every day to protect and rehome animals across Ireland. By taking viewers behind the scenes, it’s a brilliant way of showing the dedicated staff and volunteers at work and, most importantly, the resilience of the animals themselves.
‘We hope viewers will be inspired not only to follow the stories highlighted in the series, but to learn about ways that they can help support animal welfare, including through adoption and responsible pet ownership.’

‘I’m delighted the show is back on our screens,’ Fiona Conlon, Senior Animal Welfare Inspector at the NSPCA, added. It gives the public a unique window into each animal’s journey: rescue, rehabilitation, and ultimately, a forever home.
‘You truly see the dedication, expertise, and love behind every rescue. RTÉ’s support for our animal welfare charity is commendable. By highlighting the challenges animals face, you’re helping drive a national conversation.
‘Improving welfare standards is a shared effort, and we’re grateful to have you with us.’
The first episode of The Shelter: Animal SOS will take place on Friday, May 8.
