After just two seasons, Robbie Keane has resigned as manager of Hungarian side Ferencvaros.
Ireland’s record goalscorer moved to the side in 2024, after a controversial spell at Maccabi Tel-Aviv in Israel, and is leaving the side with one league title and one cup to his name.
Despite his less-than-normal path into management, Keane has still garnered quite a reputation across Europe, especially in European Competitions where his sides have overachieved on small budgets.

Ferencvaros this year did exit the Europa League embarrassingly at the hands of Sporting Braga after a huge comeback from the Portuguese side, but even at that stage, the Hungarians’ budget was a fraction of Braga’s, so to make the Round of 16 was some feat.
That run in the Europa League had put Keane on the radar of several clubs in Britain, including his beloved Tottenham Hotspur, before they hired Roberto De Zerbi, but it now looks like this resignation has opened the door for another dream move.
Celtic’s managerial question is yet to be answered after Martin O’Neill led the Bhoys to a record 55th Scottish Premiership title after beating Hearts 3-1 at Celtic Park. It was a huge day for O’Neill, who at 74 only came in to steady the ship, but a run of 7 wins to finish the season saw them make history.

They are yet to decide on who the next manager will be, with O’Neill keeping the door open to staying in Glasgow, but for some fans, a younger manager is needed to lead Celtic in this new era, queue Keane.
At 45, Robbie Keane is a very bright managerial prospect and looks like he’s ready to make the next step in his career. A move to Celtic would be the next logical step for Keane, who played for the side during a brief loan spell in 2010.
The last Republic of Ireland International to manage Celtic was Liam Brady, who managed the side for just over 2 years from 1991-1993, failing to pick up a single trophy in that time.
