Jacqui Hurley made a cheeky dig this weekend after Katie Taylor faced backlash for ‘walking through the kids game’ at Croke Park.

The Bray boxer will defend her super-lightweight titles on September 5 in a blockbuster showdown against Frenchwoman Flora Pili.

It will be Taylor’s final contest, and will take place at Croke Park, a venue she has long dreamed of boxing in.

Following confirmation of the fight night on Friday, Taylor and her team have embarked on a journey across Ireland.

One of the first destinations the Bray boxer paid a visit to was Croke Park on Saturday as the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship Final took place.

During the interval of the clash between Dublin and Galway, young local hurlers and juvenile club members took to the pitch for a half-time exhibition.

Katie Taylor also walked out onto the pitch at half-time, doing a few rounds of shadow-boxing to the roaring attendees.

While many were delighted to see the world champion take to the pitch, others were aggrieved by her interruption of the children’s game.

‘Did they really need to walk through the kids game?’ one wondered online, with another branding it: ‘A total disgrace.’

Another wrote that Katie ‘shouldn’t have been on the pitch’ at the same time as the children.

Among those who lined out for the GAA half-time exhibition was the son of RTÉ Sports presenter Jacqui Hurley.

Sharing a picture of her son, Luke, Jacqui lamented a ‘special day’ as he got to watch his ‘heroes’ and then take to the very same pitch as them.

‘He’ll forgive Katie Taylor in time for the pitch invasion!!!’ Jacqui joked.
