This week, drugs worth 10.6m euro were seized in a major operation across Kilkenny and Waterford. 'Operation Tara' included the interception of a heavy goods vehicle on the M9 in County Kilkenny and searches of two business premises and a residential address in Waterford. The seizure involved 1.52kgs of cocaine (it's believed) which was discovered in a sophisticated concealment in the vehicle. It was clearly a very sizeable quantity of drugs and just another example of how prevalent and ever-present the drugs problem in society is. Today on 'Deise Today', Maria McCann spoke to a leading expert on addiction and young people to get his take on the current trends and issues presented by drugs, both in terms of medical and societal impacts.
