The weekend looks set to be filled with glorious sunshine, with the rain expected to hold off till next week.
According to Donegal Weather, both Saturday and Sunday will be dry, but it won’t be particularly warm.
‘If you’re planning any outdoor activities this weekend, expect dry weather accompanied by plenty of sunshine,’ they wrote on X.

‘Saturday will offer the most sunshine, while Sunday may bring some cloudy conditions.
‘Temperatures will range from 10°C to 14°C. As for next week, prepare for more unsettled conditions with showers likely, particularly from mid-week, and a chance of thunderstorms.
‘Looking further ahead, it doesn’t seem like we’ll see much warmer weather in the next two weeks.

‘However, the Ecmwf sub-seasonal forecast suggests that by the last days of this month and into early June, we could experience drier conditions with above-average temperatures.
Earlier this week, Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather signalled: ‘Still no sign of any real warm air coming our way up to mid month but rainfall amounts look generally low for Ireland for next 7 days.’
Met Éireann said Sunday will see ‘plenty of dry weather with sunny spells.
‘Cloud will increase in the north through the day with the possibility of isolated showers. Highest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees, coolest in the north, in a moderate northerly breeze.’
On Monday, there will be ‘a good deal of cloud and some bright or sunny intervals with light showers tracking southwards over the country. Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees, in light to moderate north to northwesterly winds.
‘Tuesday will bring some patchy light rain or drizzle, more especially to parts of the north and northeast.
‘It will become mainly dry in the afternoon with better sunny spells developing. Moderate west to north-west winds with highs of 12 to 15 degrees.’
Currently, Wednesday looks like a cool and blustery day with showers, some heavy, feeding down from the north, the national forecaster said.
