After a great few weeks of weather across the country, the last few days have seen Ireland come back to earth with some more similar conditions.

The past few days have been characterised by short, heavy showers, which have led to hailstones in some parts. It was the conditions that Irish people had become much more accustomed to this year, after the torrid winter.

However, it looks like it will turn the corner again in the next week, with temperatures set to reach a much more familiar May-time heat.

Kenneth from the Donegal Weather Channel revealed on social media that he is seeing signs of good weather coming back to Ireland.

‘As indicated by Donegal Weather Channel, there are positive signs of a warmer end to May and a warm beginning to early June,’ he wrote. ‘The medium-range models support this, showing a shift in conditions.

‘Currently, we anticipate higher pressure building next weekend, which should bring drier weather.

‘Temperatures are set to rise from mid-next week, with some areas reaching 20°C on Wednesday and Thursday, potentially climbing into the low 20s by Friday and next weekend.’

He added: ‘The following week leading into the bank holiday weekend will require a few more days of observation, but early signs suggest temperatures could reach the mid-20s if a strong high-pressure system develops to keep the Atlantic at bay.’

They then did the week’s forecast and pinpointed Wednesday for when the higher temperature returns.

‘A warmer day with a mix of clouds and scattered showers, but many locations will remain dry, with highs reaching 18°C to 20°C.’

Next weekend will be when the drier days come, as Thursday and Friday potentially have thunderstorms on the way.
