Tallow have retained their Premier Intermediate status in Waterford after defeating Ballysaggart 1-31 to 12 points in the relegation final.
There were two major surprises in the starting line-ups, with Stephen Bennett starting in goal for Ballysaggart despite recently undergoing knee surgery, while former Waterford hurler Tommy Ryan made his first appearance of the year for Tallow.
Tallow led 10 points to five after 25 minutes when Ballysaggart’s Shane Bennett was shown a straight red card.
Just two minutes later, Stephen Bennett was also dismissed, and then their afternoon went from bad to worse just before half-time when Liam O’Gorman was also sent off, leaving Ballysaggart with just 12 players for the second half.
Tallow took full advantage of their numerical advantage, with Darragh Buckley leading the scoring with 10 points and Ryan Grey contributing six.
The result means Tallow will remain in the Premier Intermediate Championship, while Ballysaggart are relegated to the Intermediate Championship for next season.
