Met Éireann has said that while temperatures are expected to remain high next week, the conditions aren’t likely to reflect that.
The country has enjoyed high temperatures in the mid-20s over the last week, with the southeast revelling in the best of the conditions — such as sunshine and high temperatures — while other parts of the country were left with a deceptive warmth dampened by cloud cover.
While some might be hoping for the temperatures to drop, Met Éireann has warned — or delivered good news, depending on who you ask — that temperatures are set to remain in the high teens to low 20s in the coming week.
However, conditions are set to be mixed in parts of the country, including showers some hours and dry conditions at other times — meaning you might need to pack an umbrella to the beach, or shorts if you’re out and about.
Looking to the weather for Saturday (August 15), Met Éireann say that it will be dry for most of the country with a mix of cloud and sunny spells, and just a few light showers mainly in the west and north. Cloud will build from the west during the evening, with highest temperatures of 15C-16C in the northwest to 23C in the east and southeast.
It will be mostly cloudy on Saturday night, with limited cloudy spells. Dry for most of the country, although rain and drizzle will move in from the west. Lowest temperatures of 10C to 14C.
Sunday will be mostly cloudy, with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle and just limited bright spells. Some mist and fog too, although parts of the south and east will stay dry throughout the day. Highest temperatures of 16C to 22C, coolest in the north.
Sunday night will be mild and largely dry with some spots of rain and drizzle, but temperatures won’t fall below 12C to 16C.
The cloud will give way to humidity, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle mainly in the north until later in the afternoon; heavier and more persistent rain will push in from the northwest from here. Highest temperatures of 17C to 21C in Connacht and Ulster, and 20C to 25C in Munster and Leinster, who will see the best of any sunny spells.
Monday night will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain, heavy at times over the northwestern half of the country, before becoming patchier as it extends southeastwards. Temperatures won’t fall below 13C to 17C, however.
Looking to the rest of the week, Met Éireann said that we’ll be experiencing mixed conditions generally, with rain or showers at times. Dry intervals too, with temperatures remaining in the high teens in the northwest to the low or mid-20s in the south and east.
From midweek, however, indications suggest a cooler, fresher northerly airflow will dominate for the following days with a mix of sunshine and showers.
