According to Met Éireann, the sunshine ‘just keeps on coming’ this July.

A Status Yellow warning is continuing for five counties, with Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Galway and Mayo braced for peaks of 27C.

It’s not great news if you’re struggling to sleep at night though, as the night-time temperatures will not drop below 15C, leading to calls for everyone to conserve water.

Meteorologist Rebecca Cantwell told RTÉ’s Morning Ireland: ‘High pressure is sticking around right through this week.

‘We’re expecting great weather through the rest of this week into next week. It could even last into next week as well. Temperatures are then expected to rise again.’

Meanwhile, Uisce Éireann issued a hosepipe ban last night for Dublin, south Tipperary and parts of Kildare, Meath, Wexford and Wicklow from midnight on Thursday until midnight on August 26.

It said the conservation order is to safeguard public water supplies for essential purposes after the recent period of warm and dry weather.

Nationally, domestic water use is around 20 per cent above typical levels, driven by non-essential outdoor use.

In the Greater Dublin Area, recent use reached 693million litres, around 50million litres above the year-to-date average.
