Irish celebrities said their final goodbye to Marion Fossett, a woman who brought so much joy to the lives of many as the ringmistress of Fossetts Circus.

Marion died in hospital in Dublin on Friday at the age of 71.

Fans, friends and family gathered at St. Patrick’s Church in Lucan to give Marion a send-off to remember.

A true entertainer at heart, those close to the star wanted to reflect this during the funeral service.

In the church, Marion’s ringleader outfit was put up on display. The black sequin hat with the red and black sparkly jacket reminded one of the dedication she had to a job she loved for so many years.

A poem was dedicated to the ‘Queen of Irish Circus,’ which highlighted how she was a ‘Singer of Stories, Leader of wonder and a keeper of the ring.’

Father O’ Brien, who was conducting the ceremony, described Marion as someone who was ‘loved by everybody.’

He asked those attending, “What do you say about somebody who is larger than life…who is well known by everybody, and loved by everybody?’

Before joining the circus, Marion had a successful music career and would go on to join the band Sheeba, singing alongside Maxi and Frances Campbell.

In 1981, as Ireland hosted the Eurovision from the RDS in Dublin, Sheeba represented the country in the contest with the song Horoscopes.

Adele King and Louis Walsh, who would have worked with the star over the years, paid their respects.

Loving the limelight, a giant floral tribute was placed in the hearse, which spelt out the word ‘DIVA,’ something friends and family knew she would love.

Marion’s niece, Sonya Fossett, spoke a few words about her aunt.

A woman who was always busy, but never too busy that she couldn’t spend time with her loved ones, Sonya said, ‘She gave us comfort, confidence and courage to step into the spotlight. We’ll miss the sound of her voice and looking back at her smile when leaving the ring.”

After the mass, Marion was laid to rest in Esker Cemetery in Dublin.
