Businesses and research organisations in Waterford will have an opportunity to learn how they can compete for a share of €40 million in Government innovation funding later this month.

A regional event for the next round of the Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund will take place at the Tower Hotel in Waterford on September 24th.

The fund supports collaborative research and innovation projects involving businesses and research organisations, with applications for the latest round closing on February 3rd, 2027.

To qualify, projects must involve at least three independent partners, including a minimum of two companies, one of which must be an SME.

Applicants must also be seeking at least €1.5 million in funding over a three-year period.

The event will provide businesses and researchers with information on eligibility and the application process, as well as opportunities to find potential partners for projects.

Visits to the South Eastern Applied Materials Centre and the Pharmaceutical and Molecular Biotechnology Research Centre will also form part of the event.

More than €530 million has been approved through the Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund since it was established in 2018, supporting over 130 collaborative projects involving almost 500 organisations.

The fund is managed by the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment and administered by Enterprise Ireland.
