The forum will be hosted by Lynda Lawton, Operations Officer at Waterford Chamber, who will serve as MC for the event.

Members of the public are warmly invited to attend free of charge and learn more about the work being carried out across the community to support people with disabilities.
Opening of new Parent Child Sensory Hub
Metropolitan Mayor, Cllr. Adam Wyse recently cut the ribbon at the launch of the new Parent Child Sensory Hub in City Square Shopping Centre.
A collaboration between Autism Friendly Waterford and City Square, this new facility provides a quiet, calming sensory space for children who may become overwhelmed on a day out in the city.
The Mayor spoke of friends of his who have described to him the many challenges they face with a child with special needs.
“This facility is a much-needed space for families of children with additional needs and is a welcome addition to the city,” he said

He praised Autism Friendly Waterford and City Square, saying: “When people see something is needed, they just get together and make it happen.”
Denis Carroll, Manager of City Square said that when the committee of Autism Friendly Waterford approached Jessica Manning, assistant manager, asking if they would consider putting a sensory room in the shopping centre, they both “jumped at the idea” and offered a space upstairs.
“I have to admit, though, that the committee did everything else. From enclosing the space to kitting it out, they spent eight months working tirelessly on this project,” she said.
“It’s a really great achievement and we’re delighted to have this badly-needed facility in our shopping centre.”
Autism Friendly Waterford were chosen as a charity for the Mayor’s Ball last year, and the money received from the proceeds of the ball went towards this sensory space.
The sensory hub is upstairs in City Square Shopping centre between the Ladies and the Gents and Disabled toilets. People can gain access by ringing the contact number displayed. Alternatively, it can be pre-booked by emailing info@city-square.ie.
