Tyra Banks is getting ready to sue Netflix over the documentary, which she featured in, which looked back at the series America’s Next Top Model.

The documentary, Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model, dropped on Netflix in February of this year and caused quite a stir online.

The former model was an executive producer on the show during its stint from 2003 to 2013, with some of the actions of both judges and contestants grabbing headlines.

A lawsuit was filed over the weekend, in which Tyra has claimed that the Netflix production was heavily edited to make her look bad and is now suing for defamation.

According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, it highlighted how ‘Tyra Banks participated in the Netflix documentary series America’s Next Top Model because she believed viewers deserved a candid conversation about the show’s legacy – its successes and its shortcomings…There are aspects of the show for which Ms Banks takes accountability, and she wanted ANTM viewers to hear that from her directly.’

The three doc episodes delve into the series from the start and highlight alleged abuse, neglect and cruelty all for the love of ratings.

Tyra is claiming that the show only used a total of 16 minutes of her interview and that it was twisted and ‘stripped of context and reassembled to support a false and defamatory narrative unrelated to what she actually expressed.’

The former model claims that throughout three and a half hours of being interviewed, the host took accountability for different events that took place on the show; however, she believes this did not make the cut.

One story that was heavily focused on in the documentary was the alleged sexual assault of contestant Shandi Sullivan in series two.

While partying heavily with some Italian models, Shandi was seen getting into bed with one of them, even though she had a boyfriend back home. She claimed that the crew had cut this and made the narrative into a cheating scandal. Shandi at the time stated that she had blacked out at the time of the event.

Tyra, when asked about this, said she had no involvement in storylines and that the girls had been warned before filming that all would be on camera, the good and the bad.

The lawsuit contains several other incidents, highlighting the lack of empathy shown to her fellow judge, Miss J Alexander, when he had experienced a heart attack.

The star believes the show made this look like she had made very little attempt to check in on J when he was going through his health scare.

Netflix has been contacted by People, but has yet to comment on the future of a possible court case with the former presenter
