It’s been quite the wild ride for Barry Keoghan in recent years, and it doesn’t look like he’s going to slow down anytime soon, what with filming for the Beatles movies underway.
Although there’s been plenty of highs, there have also been lows, with Barry speaking openly about the abuse he’s faced online. Now, though, he’s ready to ‘step into a new chapter.’
With several projects in the works, including an indie film that hit very close to home for the Irish star, Barry has said he wants to ‘enjoy the moment’ and move on from all the negativity.

Chatting with Variety, Barry explained that he’s ready to ‘step into a new chapter of my life where I let my work speak for me…
‘I want to close the book on it, put my head up, have a smile and enjoy the moment.’
One of the projects in this ‘new chapter’ will be his role in Lemonade, an indie film that Barry managed to fit in filming for in January between shoots for the Beatles biopics.

Lemonade, which is being directed by Kim Bartley, is set amid Ireland’s care system, something Barry knows all too well from his own childhood.
The film resonated with Barry very strongly. ‘There are moments in Lemonade when I was like, “this is too to-the-bone”. Honestly, it makes me emotional just chatting about it, but it’s beautiful,’ he said.
Barry went on to explain how he’s now mindful of the projects he takes on, saying that he ‘carefully, cautiously’ picks what he works on as he wants to collaborate with people who are ‘like-minded’.

Although he won’t be returning to his role of Duke Shelby for the Peaky Blinders sequel series on Netflix, he’s not looking at an empty calendar with four Beatles films to shoot.
Up next for Barry is his film Butterfly Jam, premiering at the Cannes Film Festival. In this movie, he stars opposite Riley Keough, who plays his sister, and Talha Akdogan, who portrays his son.
