Motorists in parts of Waterford are being advised to expect cyclists on the roads this Sunday as the DCC National Masters Cycling Road Race takes place.

The event will be held on Sunday, September 13th, with a number of races taking place throughout the day.

Cyclists will be on the route between 9am and 5pm, with multiple start times scheduled.

The race will consist of laps of a route beginning in Kilmacthomas before travelling along the L3042, L3041 and L3029 towards Five Cross Roads in Stradbally.

Competitors will then travel along the R675 towards Seafield, before taking the R677 through Ballylaneen and back towards Kilmacthomas.

Waterford City and County Council has issued a road alert ahead of the event.

Motorists travelling in the area during the race are being asked to proceed with caution and obey the directions of marshals along the route.

The event is scheduled to conclude at approximately 5pm.
