Nuacht as Gaeilge 20th June 2026

Ar nuacht na seachtaine seo cloisimid go bhfuair dhá cheann de na príomh-nithe turasóireachta i bPort Láirge aitheantas idirnáisiúnta le Gradam Travellers’ Choice 2026 do Mhúsaem Ama na hÉireann agus do Ghairdíní Mount Congreve. Léiríonn an gradam seo cáil an chontae mar cheann scríbe cultúrtha agus turasóireachta den chéad scoth.

Ag tógáil air sin, seoladh Plean Áineasa Faoin Aer Phort Láirge 2026–2030 chun gníomhaíochtaí amuigh faoin aer a fhorbairt ar bhealach inbhuanaithe agus chun an timpeallacht nádúrtha a chosaint.

I dTrá Mhór, osclaíodh cuibhrinn pobail nua chun bia a fhás agus chun bithéagsúlacht agus nascanna áitiúla a neartú.

I seirbhísí sóisialta, d’aithin HIQA easnaimh i seirbhís chónaithe míchumais i bPort Láirge, go háirithe i mbainistiú cógas agus maoirseacht, cé go mothaíonn cónaitheoirí sábháilte fós.

Ag deireadh na seachtaine, ceiliúradh Féile Mheithimh i nDún Garbhán an Ghaeilge le ceol agus imeachtaí pobail, ag léiriú fás agus fuinneamh an phobail Ghaelaigh.

In this week’s news, we hear that two major Waterford attractions, the Irish Time Museum and Mount Congreve Gardens, received the 2026 Travellers’ Choice Award, reinforcing the county’s strong tourism reputation.

As well, the Waterford Outdoor Recreation Plan 2026–2030 was launched to expand outdoor activities sustainably while protecting the natural environment.

In Tramore, a new community allotment project opened to support local food growing, biodiversity, and stronger community connections.

HIQA identified shortcomings in a residential disability service in Waterford, particularly around medication management and oversight, though residents still reported feeling safe.

And finally, Féile Mheithimh in Dungarvan celebrated the Irish language through music and community events, highlighting the continued growth of the local Gaeltacht community.
