Supports for businesses impacted by the Tycor business fire have been discussed in the Dáil.

Waterford Sinn Féin TD David Cullinane raised the matter with Taoiseach Micheal Martin yesterday (Wednesday).

Deputy Cullinane said immediate relief is needed and pointed out that Waterford Council’s CEO has indicated a fund should be established and run by the local authority to assist impacted businesses.

“Money has to be put on the table. This will enable support to be given to these organisations quickly and rapidly,” he said.

In response, the Taoiseach said the government is “committed” to supporting those impacted by last weekend’s fire in Waterford City.

A meeting involving impacted business operators and Enterprise Minister Peter Burke, Minister of State John Cummins, and Council CEO Sean McKeown was held at The Tower Hotel on Tuesday.
