West Waterford Mental Health Awareness is continuing its work to promote positive mental health and wellbeing across the local community.

The voluntary group recently attended a Mental Health and Wellbeing event at the Park Hotel in Dungarvan, organised by Buion Phort Láirge.

The event brought together a wide range of organisations and support services, allowing members of the public to find out more about the help and community supports available.

West Waterford Mental Health Awareness had a stall at the event, with Liz Oakham speaking on behalf of the group. Chairperson Donnchadh Mulcahy and Vice Chair John Ryan also attended.

Speaking afterwards, Chairperson Donnchadh Mulcahy said it was important to have different organisations and services together in one place, allowing people to learn more about the supports available to them.

He also praised Liz Oakham for representing the group and Buion Phort Láirge for organising the event.

The group is now preparing for its own Community Wellbeing Day in Ballyduff on Saturday, September 19th.

The free event will take place at Ballyduff GAA Grounds, with no registration required.

The day will begin with Yoga with Fiona from 11am to 12pm, followed by tea, coffee and chats.

A Bags of Hope Workshop will then take place from 12:30pm to 1:30pm, focusing on hope, connection and wellbeing.

The day will finish with Laughing Yoga with Deborah from 2pm to 3pm.

The event follows the group’s recent Community Wellbeing Day in Ballysaggart.

Cllr Mulcahy said the events aim to bring people together, encourage conversation and promote positive mental health and wellbeing within local communities.

He said the Ballysaggart event was well received and encouraged people to come along to the Ballyduff event.

The Ballyduff Community Wellbeing Day takes place on Saturday, September 19th from 11am at Ballyduff GAA Grounds.
