
A man has been charged in connection with a fatal assault in Dungarvan. This is following the death of a man in his 70s in County Waterford.
Gardaí confirmed that the man, aged in his 40s, is due to appear before Carrick-on-Suir District Court tomorrow, Wednesday April 15th, at 10:30am.
Fatal Assault in Dungarvan
Emergency services responded to an incident in the townland of Cappagh, near Dungarvan, shortly after 6pm on Monday evening.
The man in his 70s was discovered with serious injuries outside a residential property and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has since been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination is due to take place.

The incident occurred along the N72 route linking Dungarvan with Cappoquin and Lismore, on the Dungarvan side of the Welcome Inn.
Arrest and charge
The accused man was arrested at the scene and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in the Eastern Region.
Gardaí have since confirmed that he has now been formally charged in connection with the investigation.
Investigation ongoing
The Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have also been notified.
Investigations into the fatal assault in Dungarvan are ongoing as the case now proceeds through the courts.
