Rathgormack manager Kenny Hassett says his side are focused on improving their own performance as the Waterford champions prepare for Sunday’s Munster Senior Football Championship quarter-final against Clare champions Éire Óg Inis.

The four-in-a-row Waterford champions will have home advantage at Cappoquin Logistics Fraher Field, with throw-in at 2pm.

Rathgormack will be hoping to go one step further than last season, when they were narrowly beaten by the Clare side in a closely contested encounter.

Hassett believes the extra week between the Waterford county final and Sunday’s game has allowed his players more time to recover and prepare.

He says the majority of their work has centred on getting the best out of their own team, while also identifying the strengths and weaknesses of their opponents.

Éire Óg Inis arrive in Waterford as three-time Clare champions, having secured another county title with a 2-15 to 1-10 victory over Kilmaley.

Hassett says their scoring threat is spread throughout the team, with Rathgormack well aware of the quality they will face.

However, he is encouraged by the contribution of his own forwards, insisting his side are not reliant on any one player.

The return to form of Stephen Curry is another positive for Rathgormack, with the forward having impressed since returning from injury.

Hassett also believes the experience within his squad could prove important on Sunday, with several players having featured in multiple Munster campaigns.

He says that familiarity with the demands of provincial football can help his players deal with the pressure of another big occasion.

Home advantage is also something Hassett welcomes, with Rathgormack familiar with Fraher Field and the conditions they are likely to encounter.

Sunday’s meeting promises another significant test for the Waterford champions as they look to continue their provincial campaign.

Rathgormack face Éire Óg Inis at Cappoquin Logistics Fraher Field this Sunday, with throw-in at 2pm.
