There was disappointment for Seamus Power this morning in the playoff for the weather disrupted Butterfield Championship in Bermuda.
Power was tied for the lead with American Austin Smotherman after the third round on Saturday but extreme weather yesterday meant there was no play with the PGA Tour declaring the result after 54 holes.
However, the pair returned to play a sudden death playoff this morning to determine the winner who would receive a two-year exemption on the tour.
Playing only the par three sixteenth, both players parred it twice before a bogey at the third attempt cost the West Waterford player the title.
His runner up finish saw him win $654,000 and ensured he jumped to 68th on the FedEx Cup standings which will secure his full Tour card for next season, having only had conditional status for 2026.
