Waterford’s Ellis McHugh has won a bronze medal in the 400-metre hurdles at the European Youth Olympics Festival in Skopje, North Macedonia this morning.

The Ferrybank star ran a time of 59.23 seconds – an improvement of 0.76 seconds from when she won her heat earlier this week – to pick up continental honours.

Mira Hirsbrunner of Sweden took gold while Emma Juntenen of Finland landed silver.

Ellis is back in action this afternoon on the Irish Medley Relay team – she runs the third leg of 300-metres in the semi-finals.
