All-Ireland winners’ medals are a rare currency in the Gentle County and certainly in the code of Gaelic football.
Na Déise’s sole appearance in an All-Ireland Senior Men’s final came in the 1898 championship.
However, the 1900 All-Ireland football winners were neighbouring Tipperary, who boasted 8 players from the Clonmel Shamrocks club.

Two of whom were from County Waterford, Jack Dwan (Fourmilewater) and Larry Tobin (The Nire).
Both noted as the first Waterford men to win All-Ireland medals, they both made important contributions to their adopted Clonmel.
