Shaws Department Stores is celebrating 85 years as part of the retail landscape in Waterford, and 162 years in Ireland.

The business has weathered the pandemic, times of significant economic struggle, and today the two stores in Waterford city and Dungarvan are thriving.

Shaws as a Family Owned Business

Ger Osborne is the overall marketing manager for the Shaws group, and he spoke on The Big Breakfast Blaa about the importance of Shaws still being a family-owned business.

The addition of new brands, including korean skincare products, expanded lingerie departments, Topshop, Mango and more mean that the customer base continues to evolve.

It is due to this new cohort of consumers, as well as the existing loyal base which sees Shaws eyeing up a map of potential new locations for stores in Ireland.

Ger told The Big Breakfast Blaa that while he cannot say more at this time, he can confirm new locations and budgets are being seriously considered across the country.
