Ireland’s weather looks set to get back to the record-breaking heat that was seen in May, with sunnier days not too far in the future.
June has been a rocky month so far, with many scattered showers and cooler temperatures disrupting the summer experience.
However, just a few weeks ago, it was incredibly hot all over the country as record-breaking temperatures soared to 30.5C at Shannon Airport on May 26.

Thankfully, it appears that it wasn’t all of the summer weather the country is going to see, with experts looking toward some brighter days later in the month.
Carlow Weather’s Alan O’Reilly echoed weather models from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and the Global Forecast System (GFS) to show surging heat from around Thursday, June 25.
The models show that Irish temperatures could climb back up to 30C, fuelling hopes of an upcoming heatwave.

O’Reilly remarked that while the forecast may be ‘very, very uncertain’, both weather models showing similar readings could mean that a sudden heat surge is on the way.
He wrote on social media: ‘The last few weather model updates have shown a blast of very warm air moving up around the 25th.
‘This far out it is very very uncertain but interesting both models have shown it as a possible outcome. Could see us hit 30C again “if” it did happen.’

Looking at the forecast for the start of the upcoming week, O’Reilly expects Sunday sunshine and a brighter Monday.
He said that the cloud will move in from the southwest on Monday morning, but rainfall amounts will remain generally very low with odd showers and some patchy drizzle, while Tuesday will see showers push into the southwest in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, Met Éireann has forecast that temperatures will rise up to 22C on Sunday.
While the rest of the day will be warm and sunny, the national forecaster warned that the forecast will be more changeable and mixed for the rest of the working week.
Counties across Ireland can expect spells of rain or showers, with some heavier falls likely in places at times.
However, it will be warmer that previous weeks and there will also be drier and brighter spells.
