A Tramore school has picked up a major national award for its work in sustainability.
Ardscoil na Mara has been named the overall winner at the AIB Future Sparks School Impact Awards, held at Croke Park.
The school was recognised for its student led Sustainability Hub project, which has transformed the campus into a centre for environmental action. The initiative focuses on biodiversity, peer education, and community engagement, with students bringing climate focused work into both the school grounds and the wider Tramore area.
Organisers say the project stood out for its practical approach to sustainability and its impact both inside and outside the classroom.
Speaking after the win, coordinator Frances Fitzgerald said it is a well deserved recognition for the students, describing them as ambassadors for Tramore and Waterford.
The awards highlight youth led projects across Ireland in areas including sustainability, social impact and financial wellbeing.
