
Train services have resumed between Thurles and Limerick Junction following a fatal incident on the line on Monday morning.
Services had been suspended in both directions after emergency services were called to the scene, causing significant disruption across the rail network.
Iarnród Éireann confirmed that a person on the line was struck and fatally injured by the 7.45am Thurles to Limerick service near Dundrum in Co. Tipperary.

The incident affected services between Dublin and Cork, Kerry and Limerick, with bus transfers arranged between Thurles and Limerick Junction while the line remained closed.
Shortly after midday, Iarnród Éireann confirmed that train services had resumed.
The 11am Heuston to Cork service was among the first to operate in full and was running around 10 minutes behind schedule.
The 11.25am Cork to Heuston service also resumed, with a delay of approximately 14 minutes.
Passengers had earlier been warned to expect delays of an hour or more as a result of the disruption.
In a statement, Iarnród Éireann apologised to passengers affected by the incident.
‘We apologise to customers for the inconvenience caused and thank them for their patience and understanding in these very sad circumstances,’ a spokesperson said.
