Following the devastating fire at Tycor Business Centre over the weekend, Waterford Chamber and Waterford City and County Council have jointly launched the SOLVE Initiative (Supporting Our Locally Vulnerable Employers) to provide structured support to impacted businesses.

The initiative has been established in response to significant outreach from the local business community, with many companies expressing a strong desire to assist those affected. SOLVE will act as a coordinated framework to ensure that all contributions, financial or otherwise, are effectively managed and directed to where they are needed most.

Both organisations are maintaining close and ongoing contact with the businesses in Tycor Business Centre, and a detailed assessment is currently underway to identify priority areas of need. This process will inform how supports and funds are distributed in a targeted and meaningful way.

Sean McKeown, Chief Executive, Waterford City and County Council said, “There is scarcely a person in Waterford who has not been affected by the plight of those whose businesses were destroyed in last weekend’s fire.

“Since the incident, the response from the business community and beyond, has been extraordinary, with offers of support and assistance coming from all quarters. The establishment of SOLVE will help ensure effective and expedient distribution of that support, in order to help these businesses get back on their feet.”

Gerald Hurley, CEO of Waterford Chamber, welcomed the strong response from the business community: “We have been heartened by the immediate and generous response from companies across Waterford and beyond. Many businesses have already reached out, offering support in whatever way they can. This spirit of solidarity speaks volumes about the strength and resilience of our business community. Through the SOLVE Initiative, we aim to ensure that this goodwill is channelled effectively to support those most impacted during this difficult time.”

Businesses or individuals wishing to contribute to the SOLVE Fund, either financially or through other forms of support, are encouraged to contact Gerald Hurley, Waterford Chamber, on 086 2528093.

Waterford Chamber and Waterford City and County Council have expressed their sincere appreciation for the continued support and solidarity shown by the business community as recovery efforts begin.
