Even warmer weather is on the way, but it’s not coming without its repercussions as a fire risk warning is in place for the coming days.

Temperatures are set to hit those similar to popular holiday destinations later this week.

The weather hasn’t come without its slight chill as a result of wind, though that is expected to dim in the coming days with Friday set to hit 20C.

However, the current and upcoming weather patterns are posing a high fire risk across the country.

The Status Orange HIGH Forest Fire Risk is in place nationwide until 12pm on Monday, April 27.

Coillte said: ‘While some areas may be subject to rain during this time, elevated fire risks are expected in all areas during this period, especially western coastal and North-western areas.

‘Fire behaviour, spread rates and difficulty of suppression will be strongly influenced by increasingly dry fuel conditions, low humidity levels associated with easterly winds, and moderate to fresh windspeeds.’

The forestry business urged the public to be extra vigilant, and urged landowners and managers to report any suspicious activity to An Garda Síochána.

They said: ‘Visitors to public recreational areas should cooperate with all fire safety requirements and not light open fires or barbeques in high risk areas.’

Those visiting forests and other recreational areas should ensure they park appropriately so as not to impede access by emergency vehicles.

National forecaster Met Éireann say the coming days will be ‘largely dry and settled with mostly light breezes.’

The forecaster adds that conditions are ‘mild for the time of year.’
