Hundreds of new high-skilled jobs are on the way after Canadian technology firm OpenText announced plans to significantly expand its Irish operations as part of a major €105 million investment programme.

The company, which has had a presence in Cork for more than a decade, said it intends to create 400 new positions across Ireland over the next three years.

The expansion will see its workforce grow substantially at locations including Cork and Galway.

OpenText specialises in information management and digital technology solutions, with its latest investment focused on some of the fastest-growing areas of the tech sector, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and cloud-based services.

The company said the new roles will support the development and delivery of advanced AI technologies, secure digital infrastructure, and cloud platforms for customers across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

The investment marks the largest commitment by a Canadian-headquartered technology company in Ireland to date and represents a significant expansion of OpenText’s long-term presence in the country.

Staff based in Ireland will play a key role in researching, developing, and managing next-generation technology systems, helping organisations handle data securely while meeting increasingly complex regulatory requirements.

The announcement was made during an event in Dublin and comes at a time of growing economic and technological ties between Ireland and Canada, as the Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney arrived in Ireland.

OpenText has operated from Cork Airport Business Park since 2014 and currently employs around 150 people in the city.

The latest expansion is expected to strengthen Ireland’s position as a major hub for technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence development.
