Ard Scoil Na Mara has issued a statement after videos circulating online appear to show sixth year students damaging school property during end of year activities.

The footage shows what is alleged to be students pouring cement into toilets, causing significant damage in the school bathrooms. A separate video appears to show students unsupervised, including one individual discharging a fire extinguisher.

The school says the behaviour involved a very small number of students during sixth year activities and describes it as unacceptable. Management says the matter was dealt with immediately and is now being fully investigated, with appropriate responses to follow under school policy.

In a statement to parents and guardians, principal Pádraig Cawley says the school is disappointed by the actions involved but stresses the behaviour does not reflect the wider sixth year group.

He says the school remains proud of its Leaving Certificate students and their contribution to school life, adding that parents were contacted directly earlier today and that preparations are continuing for the sixth year graduation ceremony taking place tomorrow afternoon.
