Rory McIlroy donned his Masters Green Jacket on his arrival at Wimbledon today, accompanied by his wife Erica and Ryder Cup teammates.

McIlroy and his wife were guests in the Royal Box on Wednesday as he sported the iconic jacket, which he retained in April by becoming only the fourth man to win back-to-back Masters titles.

Fellow Ryder Cup teammates Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose, the man who McIlroy beat in a play-off to end his long wait to complete his career Grand Slam in 2025, were also in attendance, along with captain Luke Donald and vice captains Thomas Bjorn and Edoardo Molinari.

McIlroy will be in action this week at the Scottish Open, before turning his attention to The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale in 2 weeks’ time.

The Northern Irishman was at the Championship course in Southport last week to get a lay of the land and prepare for the final major of the year, and even bumped into fellow six-time major winner Nick Faldo

‘It’s good to get up here and play early,’ McIlroy told Nick Faldo in an impromptu interview at the course.

‘I’ve been trying to do that at every major championship, which is working out for me…Try to play a bit of links golf; try to get used to these conditions again.’

McIlroy noted that the course was ‘a little bit different’ compared to nine years ago, when Royal Birkdale last held The Open, most notably a few different holes and some new green complexes.

The fifth hole, a drivable par-4, is ‘completely different,’ according to McIlroy. ‘I like it. It’s only 300 [yards] to the front. It’s a good drivable par 4. There’s a bit of a penalty if you go for it and you miss.’

‘I’ve always thought that Birkdale was one of the best in the Open rota, so I’m excited to be back.’
