Maia Dunphy has shared a throwback picture with her rarely seen big brother.

The TV presenter is the middle child of three children to Wexford man Tom and the late Helen, who died in February 2022.

Mark is the mum-of-one’s older brother, while Anna is the youngest of the trio.

Taking to Instagram over the weekend, Maia shared an old photo alongside her brother Mark from her 2017 book launch.

The M Word: For Women Who Happen to Be Parents provides a witty and non-judgemental look at modern-day motherhood.

Sharing the sweet snap of herself and her brother, Maia noted that her older brother lives with a chronic condition and usually cannot attend events.

She added that she was ‘always so sad’ to not have gotten photographic evidence of his attendance at her book launch — until she remembered the picture she was sharing.

Maia said: ‘My lovely big brother isn’t usually well enough to go to things, he lives with a chronic condition, but I was always so sad I didn’t have a photo of us together at my book launch in 2017 that he made it to! This photo just came to light! Delighted!

‘(Yes he’s a giant. I’m wearing massive heels here, but he’s 6’4).’

Maia has previously spoken about her brother’s illness, revealing in 2020 that he was ‘very unwell [with] a long-term health condition.’

Speaking to TV Now during the COVID-19 pandemic, Maia detailed how her brother was living with her parents — all of whom were ‘quite vulnerable.’

Maia’s mum, Helen, died in 2022 following a battle with pancreatic cancer, with Maia very open about navigating the grief of losing her mum.

Last year, she told RSVP she wondered if Helen would ‘still be with us today had she been diagnosed earlier.’
