From the outset, Waterford imposed their authority, racing into an early lead through sharp point-taking from Beth Carton and Lorraine Bray. The game’s first major turning point came when Annie Fitzgerald struck for a crucial first-half goal, quickly followed by another, leaving Kerry struggling to contain the Déise’s attacking power.
Waterford’s scoring spread was impressive, with Niamh Rockett contributing 1-5, Fitzgerald finishing with 2-1, and Abby Flynn also netting twice. Carton (0-7) and Bray (0-4) ensured the scoreboard kept ticking over, while Alannah O’Sullivan and Eimear O’Neill added valuable points.
Kerry Struggle to Gain Control
Kerry, making their mark at senior level, battled gamely but relied heavily on Patrice Diggin, who accounted for all but one of their scores (0-6, all frees), with Jackie Horgan adding their only other point.
A third-quarter goal burst from Waterford effectively ended the contest, underlining their superior pace and clinical finishing in the Munster Senior Camogie Championship semi-final.
With this emphatic win, Waterford march on to face Tipperary in the Munster final, full of confidence after a ruthless attacking performance.
