There were four JJ Kavanagh & Sons Senior Football Championship games down to a decision across Waterford on Sunday.

The Nire got their campaign moving with a three-point victory over An Rinn in Group A.

The Nire finished with 0-14, while An Rinn registered 0-11.

Gaultier also recorded a convincing win in Group A, defeating Kilrossanty by 1-15 to 0-9 at Azzurri, Walsh Park.

In Group B, Abbeyside-Ballinacourty produced an impressive display to overcome Stradbally by 0-20 to 1-5.

There was also a meeting between the reigning champions Rathgormack and Roanmore.

Rathgormack, who are the current Waterford Senior Football Championship champions, came through to defeat Roanmore by 3-22 to 1-05.

The result sees the defending champions make a winning start as they begin their bid to retain the Waterford senior football title.

With four games played across the Senior Football Championship on Sunday, The Nire, Gaultier, Abbeyside-Ballinacourty and reigning champions Rathgormack all collected valuable points.
