Kobe McDonald helped Mayo soar through to the semi-finals of the All-Ireland with one particular moment of class from the youngster overlooked.

While the teams were level at half-time, Mayo came out in the second half clinical, composed, and fully deserved their five-point triumph.

Mayo youngsters, Kobe McDonald and Darragh Beirne, stole the show, reeling off 11 points between them to help Andy Moran’s side progress. Beirne struck 0-07, and AFL-bound McDonald kicked 0-04, and lit up the game with strokes of genius.

The teenager scored within 30 seconds of his Croker debut and continued to dazzle with an outrageous top-of-the-foot two-pointer. Still, one moment in particular stood out to viewers, and it wasn’t his scoring ability.

Instead of hand-passing to a teammate, McDonald decided to fist it over the defender, chase, and gather himself, and it ended in a point for his side, but the commentators didn’t seem to pick up on it.

One user on social media said: ‘I did not realise Kobe McDonald did this yesterday – thought he just took Sherlock on and beat him on the outside, the audacity’

It was an outrageous piece of skill from the youngster, and many have pointed out that the commentators on the game did not even mention it on the broadcast.

One social media user said: ‘The main reason that was hard to notice was the atrocious commentary. The co-coms for the two games were dreadful. An exceptional skill and wasn’t even mentioned.’

‘Not even mentioned by commentators…should be all over social media 100%,’ another said. It is safe to say everyone agrees that Kobe McDonald will be a big loss when he jets off to the AFL after this season concludes.
