Bob Olinger has been retired following a winning farewell at the Punchestown Festival.

The Henry de Bromhead trained horse signed off his career in the best possible way by landing the Champion Stayers Hurdle at the meeting this evening, under jockey Darragh O’Keeffe.

He had long been regarded as one of the standouts of his generation, with a career that delivered top level success at the highest grade.

Bob Olinger produced some of his most memorable performances at the Cheltenham Festival, while also collecting multiple Grade 1 victories during a career that saw him consistently compete in elite company.

The decision has now been made to retire the horse after his Punchestown victory, bringing the curtain down on a career that delivered major success and established him as a leading name in horse racing.

Bob Olinger leaves the track as a multiple Grade 1 winner, having firmly cemented his place among the top staying hurdlers of recent years.
