Liverpool Football Club have parted ways with their Dutch manager Arne Slot following an end of season review. The club released a statement on Saturday afternoon confirming their head coaches departure with immediate effect.
“That this was a difficult decision for us to make as a club goes without saying. The contribution Arne has made to Liverpool FC in the time that he has been with us has been significant, meaningful and – most importantly of all to supporters and ourselves – successful.
“As such, our appreciation for everything he has achieved could not be greater, particularly as it was underpinned by a work ethic, a diligence and a level of expertise which further underlined our view that he is a leader in his field.”
Despite winning the Premier League in his first season in charge, a combination of poor results, injuries and recruitment challenges meant that Liverpool failed to repeat that level of consistency this season. The club only secured Champions League football in 5th spot on the final day of the season.
Former Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola is hotly tipped to succeed the Dutchman in the Anfield hot seat.
