Yesterday (Wednesday), city and county councillors received an update on Active Travel in Waterford city. One element of this was a 'design review' which had been carried out of the Farronshoneen Roundabout and specifically, changes to the approach to this with reduced lanes. The report on the roundabout acknowledged "additional delays" on the approaches to it but said the priority of Active Travel schemes was the "safety of vulnerable road users" and suggested there were other factors also involved in traffic delays, including changing traffic patterns in the area, unequal volumes of traffic on the approaches AND excessive speeding on the western (Kilcohan) approach. This morning (Thursdayu), 'Deise Today' got the reaction of two local councillors who were at the workshop...Fianna Fail's Eamon Quinlan and Independent councillor Declan Barry.
