As regular listeners to the show will know, we've been covering - in recent weeks - the story of Tiernan Power-Murphy (6) who was in agonising pain due to broken teeth than needed extraction. Tiernan has autism and was languishing on a public waiting list that is 10 years long (!) as he needed the extraction done under a general anaesthetic. His parents, Eamon and Avril, highlighted Tiernan's plight on 'Deise Today' and as a result the case was picked up by national media, raised in the Dail and discussed at the highest levels of the HSE. This all culminated in Tiernan getting the call-up yesterday (Thursday) for the procedure to be undertaken in a Cork hospital. It took just 20 mins in the end but we're pleased to report that Tiernan woke up from it, in great form, and reporting 'pain gone away' to his delighted and relieved parents! Eamon gave the update to Damien on 'Deise Today' this morning and you can listen back by clicking on the image above...
