Fr. Richard’s Early Life in Carrickbeg
He recalled his upbringing in Carrickbeg, Co. Waterford in a loving home filled with his sisters and parents.
His father died just a year into his formation but Fr. Richard recalls the full support given by his family towards his initial decision to pursue a life in the priesthood.
Family definitely ‘challenged’ him on the decision and ultimately reminded him that he had their full support and that home was always somewhere he could return home to.
The strength of family was something Fr. Richard returned to again and again over the course of the night, remarking ‘all that I am is because of my family’ and the love they showed to him.
