House prices in Waterford are continuing to rise at a significantly faster rate than the national average, according to the latest Daft.ie Sales Report.

Listed prices in Waterford City were 11% higher in the third quarter of 2026 compared with the same period last year.

A typical three-bedroom semi-detached house in the city is now being listed for around €313,000.

Prices have also increased across Waterford county, where listed prices were 8.6% higher year-on-year.

The typical asking price for a four-bedroom detached house in the county now stands at around €515,000.

The Waterford figures come despite a wider slowdown in house-price inflation across the country.

Nationally, listed prices increased by 3% in the year to September, down from 5.8% a year earlier, with the average property now being listed for just under €445,000.

Across Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford cities combined, prices rose by 5.1% over the year.

Daft.ie says listed prices across the four cities are now 47% above their pre-Covid levels and have moved slightly above their Celtic Tiger peak for the first time.

The report also points to a cooling of the wider housing market, with the gap between asking and final sale prices narrowing significantly.

Nationally, the typical property sold for 2.6% above its original listed price in the third quarter, down from 6.8% a year earlier.

There were almost 13,800 second-hand homes for sale nationwide at the beginning of September, an increase of 12.5% on last year, although availability remains well below pre-pandemic levels.
