
Motorists across Waterford are being advised to plan their journeys in advance as a number of road closures, traffic management measures and infrastructure works are scheduled to take place over the coming days.
In Lismore, Main Street will be closed from 3pm on Friday, July 17, until 12 noon on Sunday, July 19, to facilitate the Munster Fleadh Cheoil. A signed diversion will be in place via Chapel Street, Chapel Place and South Mall. Drivers travelling through the town during the festival are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
Meanwhile, Passage East Playground will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, July 13 and 14, to facilitate upgrade works. The temporary closure is necessary to allow improvement works to be carried out safely.
On the R671 at Creggs, Clashmore, road resurfacing works will take place on Monday, July 13, and Tuesday, July 14. A Stop/Go convoy traffic management system will operate throughout the works, and motorists should expect some delays.
Waterside Car Park in the city will be closed from 8pm Sunday evening, 12th July, to 7pm Monday 13th due to arrangements for the Parade , Opening Ceremony World GAA Games.
Also on Monday and Tuesday, the R685 Glen Road, Tramore, will be closed between 9am and 4.30pm to facilitate road drainage works. Local access will be maintained where possible, while diversion routes will be clearly signposted.
In Waterford City, road users should also be aware that Rice Bridge is scheduled to lift at 1.45pm on Tuesday, July 14, which is likely to cause short delays to traffic crossing the River Suir.
Motorists across Waterford are encouraged to follow all temporary traffic management measures, observe diversion signage and allow additional travel time where necessary.
